Everton could turn to David Moyes if they choose to part ways with Sean Dyche, according to Nigel Reo-Coker. Speaking on the BBC’s Football Daily podcast (15 September), Reo-Coker said that despite Dyche having done a good job at Goodison Park, the pressure is increasing after four straight losses to start the Premier League season.
For the second straight Premier League game against Aston Villa, the Toffees lost 3-2 in the closing minutes despite holding a 2-0 lead. Reo-Coker proposed former Toffees manager Moyes as a potential replacement.
“When you look at what’s happening right now as well, yeah, Sean Dyche was (already) there, but Everton has been trending in this same direction for a long time,” the speaker stated.
“I’m not putting anything out there, but there is a certain David Moyes who is now managing no one and who knows that club inside and out.
“Sean Dyche is under different pressure now that Everton may consider firing the manager and hiring a new person with fresh ideas or a clean slate.”

If the Blues’ boardroom – which could also prove a sticking point in the decision-making process – do decide to pull the trigger, though, it’s arguable they need to choose a completely different direction.
On the surface, Moyes’ style of play and Dyche’s are similar, but those who want the Scot back should be concerned given his defensive performance at West Ham last season.
In sharp contrast to the Toffees’ 51 goals, which was also the fourth-best of any team despite their poor place, West Ham’s 74 goals surrendered last season were the fourth highest in the Premier League.
Given that Moyes is unlikely to significantly alter Dyche’s current program at Goodison, it appears more likely that the Blues will hold off on making a decision regarding Dyche’s future until new ownership—possibly in the form of John Textor—takes over the team [Miguel Delaney, September 12].
