It’s obvious if you changed the channel that they are making this a Cowboys issue.”
Saying that the Dallas Cowboys shouldn’t be at the center of the NFL’s Week 2 conversation following their 44-19 thumping at the hands of the New Orleans Saints isn’t exactly a passing comment. However, Good Morning Football isn’t your typical morning program, where the conversation doesn’t revolve around Jerry Jones, Dak Prescott, and “America’s Team.”
Let’s just say that GMFB is probably the only program on at eight in the morning ET that isn’t obsessed with discussing how Derek Carr, Klint Kubiak, and the Saints dominated Dallas for four quarters. That may be the case on other networks where the Cowboys are the guiding light. However, the top morning program on NFL Network made it clear that discussing a 44-19 victory shouldn’t matter whatever market you’re in.
In addition, Kyle Brandt didn’t hesitate to criticize and poke fun of Cowboys rhetoric that would inevitably be seen elsewhere, such Get Up on ESPN, while promoting the Saints. However, as we’ve previously stated, GMFB is so vital to an NFL fan’s diet because it spares them from having to deal with an overload of opinions. This is the same Brandt who specifically stated that GMFB will not be the program to give in to any overreaction during Week 1.
The same can be said for Week 2.
“The New Orleans Saints ranked 32 in terms of buzz, hype, and conversation during the preseason on this show and any other show,” Brandt said. Did we do a single segment this summer about the New Orleans Saints? Has anybody at ESPN, anywhere, done a single summertime segment on the New Orleans Saints? I don’t think so. We talked a lot about the Patriots and the Panthers, and there was more conversation about them. In only their first two weeks, the Saints were nothing at all, and now they’ve really set the globe on fire.
“I find it really awesome. We were aware that they would deploy those antiquated war horses for defense, as they often do. Demario (Davis) and
Brandt went on, “And I want to make another point about Good Morning Football.” We’re not going to use this game to insert ourselves into a Cowboys discussion. Here, we have bylaws, okay? We’ll talk about you if you win the game 44-19 to go 2-0. What market you’re in doesn’t matter to me. If you’re a high school squad, it doesn’t matter to me. If you switched the channel, you would undoubtedly see that they are making this a Cowboys issue.
“We’re going to discuss the Saints supporters…and this morning, we’re going to play “Who Dat.”
In a world where the Cowboys seem to come up in every discussion, Good Morning Football keeps it real. It concentrates on what truly matters, like the Saints dominating to a 2-0 victory, rather than promoting the same old themes.
