Spurs have advanced to the League Cup’s fourth round after rallying from behind against Coventry City late on.

Spurs wanted to get beyond their North London derby setback and move closer to one of their best chances of winning a trophy this year.

For a moment, though, it appeared as though Tottenham might suffer a demoralizing defeat—this time to a Championship team.

When Norman Bassette curled a cross in for Brandon Thomas-Asante at the near post in the 63rd minute, it was an easy finish.

Then, in the 87th minute, Djed Spence, a halftime substitute for Destiny Udogie, equalized for Spurs after seizing a wonderful Dejan Kulusevski pass.

And with penalties approaching, Tottenham finished their comeback in spectacular fashion during additional time.

Spurs advanced when Brennan Johnson calmly lofted the ball over the Coventry keeper after latching onto a fantastic through-pass.

Aaron Lennon, the cult hero of Tottenham, was one of the people who praised Johnson after his victory.
