Reading these BBC Sport comments after Newcastle United’s loss to Fulham is fascinating.

In the past, impartial BBC Sport comments have mostly consisted of a litany of insults directed on NUFC supporters.

Especially the part regarding Newcastle United’s owners and the media-sanctioned insults that supporters of the team have become accustomed to when they are held accountable for the ownership of their team.

The politicians and trolls are back, this time!

It would almost seem as though Newcastle United had just dropped their season opener and had a chance to take the knife to

The following remarks were also sent by Fulham supporters, neutrals, and the occasional Newcastle fan who read BBC Sport:

Sadly, Newcastle’s failure to win the title was the headline—not Fulham’s.

“There’s a problem at Newcastle.”

“Paymasters becoming less engaged?”

“Overlooked supervisor?”

‘Bruno, great assist for Fulham’s third! Schär could and should have made it 2-2. Hopefully they’ll get a bit fitter as the European playing teams start to struggle.’

We’ve been off it the entire season and scrapped results, so we can’t bs it. It’s a good habit to perform well even when you’re playing poorly, but in this league, it doesn’t last long.

‘Toon fan here and I have to admit, that we should have been at least 4 down by half time. It’s just sheer bad luck on Fulham’s part that we weren’t. Newcastle just didn’t turn up. Toon picked up the pace & the work rate. Murphy made a huge impact. Newcastle’s luck had to run out at some point. Well played Fulham & good luck for the rest of the season.’

From A Chelsea Supporter

I’ve been reading the best reviews on this discussion, and it’s good to see Toon fans being so open about their feelings on the game.

Watching Newcastle is a strange experience since they perform well at home but seem to lack effort away from the stadium. They appear worn out, but they easily win the following game at home.

Fulham, you performed really well today. Congratulations.

‘Let’s unpack this…

v Southampton – when you’re down to 10 men you’re going to give up possession. There are ways to play well other than free flowing football.

v AFCB – similar thing, no fluency but good in patches and those patches got a point.

vs Spurs: once more, losing the ball but occasionally winning good plays. Is there a pattern here?

“Abysmal” doesn’t appear anywhere. simplistic exaggeration.

“Excellent work from Fulham ESR, demonstrating well, and Nelson is a good addition.” Unfortunately, Newcastle was outplayed despite having a few chances.

As a Gooner, it seems obvious to me that we ought to have retained ESR and benched Martenelli—one is a legitimate player, while the other is Perry Groves 2.0.

Did you say that when he was the leading scorer two seasons ago? erratic.

Sadly, far too many players ignore their game. It would be simpler to identify the performer, in fact. The detractors of Sean Longstaff will probably be unhappy that they can’t put him down.

“Last week, cracks were plastered over, with two lucky goals.”

“Was Harvey Barnes’ goal fortunate?” blatant and evident troll

“Linton is merely there to retrieve his paycheck,”

“Newcastle United deserves none of the points they have earned thus far because they have been second best in every game this season.”

“They deserve most of their points, but they rode their luck a little.”

“I think it’s common knowledge that NUFC will never be victorious.”

Are there any injuries at Newcastle’s fault? Or can we now just admit that they are, at most, a midtable team?

“A midweek league cup exit against the Wombles is now a very real possibility.”The sense of well-being is diminishing.

“Are you a Mackem?”

‘He is.’
I’ve always believed that a team’s supporters may be judged by their behavior after a loss. There have been many sincere compliments for Fulham on this site, and the only grievance I heard from a Newcastle supporter as I was leaving the stadium was that he had received a parking penalty earlier in the day. Newcastle, you guys are a fine and respectable group; good luck this season.
‘To be fair, Newcastle had been lucky so far this season and it was time it turned against them.’
“Botman’s continued injury and Schar’s red card were the exact opposite of fortunate.”

What you’re trying to argue, I believe, is that Newcastle has made the most of its point total this season by relying more on individual brilliance and skill than on a squad that has played consistently well, as many of their games from the previous season have shown.

Two mistakes today exceeded that.
‘Sorry Newcastle but Eddie isn’t the man to get you to the summit.’
“Well, of the three managers who have managed to win more Premier League points since Eddie took over, two are in positions they would likely rather remain in than move to Newcastle, and the third is a former manager who resigned.”

So, thank you very much, Eddie will have to do.

Here, let’s maintain some perspective. Sure, the nitwits will enjoy themselves much with the “sack Eddie” crap, but any club, even Man City, can lose at Fulham. particularly if they visit there after a bad run of form.

Before the late third goal put an end to all hope, we fought hard, equalized, and had chances in the second half. Not quite as heartbreaking as Forest’s home loss to us last year.
