When Aston Villa travels to Ipswich Town on Sunday, they have the chance to pass both Manchester City and Arsenal in the Premier League.

Aston Villa would tie Liverpool at the top of the standings with a victory over newly promoted Ipswich, while Unai Emery’s team keeps getting better.

The only loss Villa has had this season is a 2-0 setback at Villa Park to Arsenal. Villa will be quite confident that they can pick up three more points against an Ipswich team that has only three points and has not won since being promoted to the top tier.

Furthermore, because Villa’s lackluster start to the season has been the only genuine cause for concern, Emery will surely be aiming for the team’s first league clean sheet of the year.

Club captain Tyrone Mings is one player who should assist with that once healthy, and he has sent a thought-provoking message ahead of the Ipswich match.

Since Mings’ ACL injury on the first day of the previous Premier League season during Villa’s 5-1 loss to Newcastle United, the team has remained without him.

Villa’s accomplishments over the last year have been even more remarkable in the absence of their captain, and Mings is now getting close to making a comeback after a protracted recuperation.

He was one of three players that had an ACL injury the previous season; the other two, Emi Buendia and Boubacar Kamara, were also unlucky enough to have the same ailment.

Mings is a true club ambassador, as seen by a Sunday morning Instagram story photo of his hotel’s view accompanied with the five-word caption, “This place in the sun.”

Mings will not be involved for Aston Villa against Ipswich

Although Mings’ trip to Ipswich is thrilling, supporters who were thinking he would be featured after reading his message will be let down.

Mings and Kamara are both working with the first team, but Emery made it clear before the weekend that they won’t be hurried back.

Buendia’s comeback has been well managed by Villa through a string of under-21 outings; Mings and Kamara will go to that level next week.

Mings played 63 games for the Tractor Boys at Ipswich to start his career, so it’s possible that his tweet was just a nod to that.
