After completing the procedures of signing a new contract, Anthony Gordon will rank among Newcastle United’s highest paid players, sources have told Football Insider.
The 23-year-old and St. James’ Park have verbally agreed upon the conditions of the contract, and he is almost ready to sign it.
Recently, there has been progress in the negotiations to put a stop to rumors over Gordon’s near future.
Gordon was in the last two years of his contract, which had teams interested, therefore the Magpies’ leadership made getting him a new agreement a priority.
The most recent development follows rumors that discussions about the winger joining Liverpool during the summer transfer season had turned his mind.
With his newfound wealth, he will be paid more than £140,000 a week, putting him in the upper echelons of the Magpies’ salary scale with players like Bruno Guimaraes and Kieran Trippier.
