After his AFC Wimbledon team lost to Newcastle in the EFL Cup on Tuesday night due to a “dodgy” penalty call, Johnnie Jackson was incensed.
After Leyton Orient loanee Joe Pigott challenged Miguel Almiron in the box during first-half stoppage time, referee Darren Bond gave the Premier League team a penalty.
Before the linesman waved his flag to indicate a foul, Bond seems to have dismissed Eddie Howe’s assertions at first.
Newcastle’s solitary goal of the match was scored by Fabian Schar, who also secured Newcastle’s place in the round of 16.
Despite having just two shots in the ninety minutes, none of which were on goal, Jackson’s team managed to delay Newcastle’s onslaught for the most part.

“I’m unhappy we didn’t get anything out of it or forced it to penalties because the effort warranted that. It speaks a lot about my squad. Although they controlled the play, we managed to remain in the game, got into a brawl, and lost due to a questionable penalty.
