Brendan Rodgers has limited Celtic’s Luis Palma to a supporting role this season.
The international player from Honduras has played in four games totaling 107 minutes, 37 of which have been in the league.
The Celtic player was not included in Honduras’ squad for this month’s international break on Friday, according to manager Reinaldo Rueda.
The 24-year-old’s exclusion from the two games against Jamaica and French Guiana, according to El Heraldo, was “one of the surprises.” The “true reason” behind the national team manager’s decision to not call up the Celtic attacker has now been made public.
Rueda and his coaching staff allegedly decided to make this choice in order to support the athlete. The attacker can focus on getting back to his best form at Celtic over the break.
According to a previous article on the same website, the attacker has chosen to cut back on social media for his own mental health.
El Heraldo repeats it and says Plama is still holding out hope that the upcoming weeks would work out well for him. He hopes to take advantage of the international break to get back into shape and form.
It remains to be seen if Palma’s goal of being “more useful” to Brendan Rodgers can be accomplished.
