Newcastle United has the ability to cast a wide net, which may pay well in the future.

The promising youths CJ Afumuzor, Lesecond Yeutembip, and Leon Mukumbira have all signed with Newcastle United.

Three new players have joined: midfielder Afumuzor from Portsmouth; defender Yeutembip from Charlton Athletic; and forward Mukumbira from Peterborough United. At the under-15 level, all three of them have drawn attention.

Newcastle can now bring in local talent and acquire youngsters nationwide from the beginning of this age group thanks to the switch to a full-time training model. Previously, the Magpies could only sign prospects who lived within an hour and a half of the club’s academy headquarters. As a result, Newcastle was able to cast its net and sign Yeutembip, Mukumbira, and Afumuzor after last year’s recruitment of Kacey Wooster from Southend United, Michael Mills from Port Vale, Sammy Pinnington from Luton Town, and Sam Alabi from Oldham Athletic.

Following their official photo shoot at St James’ Park, Afumuzor, Yeutembip, and Mukumbira took to Instagram to announce their respective moves. Yeutembip, who attended Charlton for seven years, expressed his gratitude for the opportunity and wrote, “Huge thanks to my family, especially my mum, and to all the coaches who’ve supported me along the way.
