In a roster move that indicates they are short on healthy quarterbacks this week, the Raiders signed Desmond Ridder from Arizona’s practice squad. O’Connell and Gardner Minshew are the only other quarterbacks on the active roster, and rookie Carter Bradley is on the practice squad. The Raiders did not confirm that quarterback Aidan O’Connell will be placed on injured reserve on Monday due to a fractured thumb.
Ridder finished his rookie season as the team’s starter after being selected in the third round of the 2022 NBA Draft by Atlanta. Although he was benched for Taylor Heinicke in the middle of the 2023 season, he was still employed to start the season. In the summer, he was traded to Arizona after returning to work and being benched once more.
During his tenure in Atlanta, Ridder was 322-of-503 for 3,544 yards, 14 touchdowns, and 12 interceptions.
