By the end of the month, the recently renovated Newcastle United club store is expected to open.
Due to the £30 million a season partnership with Adidas, Newcastle’s flagship store at St. James’ Park has been undergoing extensive renovations since May. On Strawberry Place, across from the stadium, a makeshift store was erected out of shipping containers.
The land must be returned to its former parking lot condition by November 18 in order for the temporary store’s planning authorisation to expire.
The St. James’ Park club store, located at the base of the Gallowgate End, is currently undergoing final touches. The “coming soon” hoardings in front of the store were taken down this week.
A new club shop will open at Metrocentre in Gateshead next month, according to an official club statement issued last week. The St. James’ Park club store would open in October, according to the same statement.
However, new pictures posted on X by Newcastle fan Peter Clennell indicate that some internal work needs to be done before the official reopening.
There are mannequins, construction workers, and unopened boxes inside the store; there aren’t any Newcastle jerseys or other memorabilia on display at the moment. Thankfully, the club anticipates quick progress and the store opening within the next week, but no specific date has been announced.
Peter Silverstone, the chief commercial officer at Newcastle, spoke on the new retail locations at St. James’ Park and Metrocentre, saying: “Our goal is to provide Newcastle United fans with an unparalleled shopping experience, bringing them even closer to the team.”
“We have a very exciting period ahead, including the launch of our new flagship store at St. James’ Park, followed quickly by our new store opening in a prime location at Metrocentre.” “The next step in that journey is opening a new Metrocentre store, which reintroduces the club to an iconic and much-loved shopping destination and positions our retail offering alongside other leading international brands.” “We look forward to uniting even more supporters with the Newcastle United products both in the lead-up to the Christmas season and into the future.”
