At the Dragons’ “What Makes a Dragon” event on Friday, NRL head coach Shane Flanagan and newly appointed Female Football Manager Samantha Bremner spoke to attendees about the future of the club.
Held at Netstrata Jubilee Stadium, the event featured key figures such as Hame Sele, the Couchman twins, Kasey Reh, Madison Mulhall, and Tara McGrath-West. Chairman Andrew Lancaster and CEO Ryan Webb also addressed the crowd before Bremner took the stage with Mulhall and Reh, marking her first public appearance since re-joining the club in September.
Bremner expressed her passion for the club, saying it felt like home, and emphasized her dedication to fostering the same love for rugby league in both younger and older players. She also praised the club’s new NRLW head coach, Nathan Cross, highlighting his extensive experience and strong ability to connect with players, particularly as a good listener, which she views as a vital trait in collaboration.
Flanagan, alongside Sele and Ryan Couchman, discussed the team’s readiness for the upcoming preseason. He shared how the squad has improved in fitness and strength, but now needs to focus on being smarter to take the next step and reach the semi-finals next season. Reflecting on the club’s legacy, Flanagan emphasized the importance of remembering the Dragons’ history of courage and success as they strive for future accomplishments.
