Pete Russell will be the Cardiff Devils’ head coach for the foreseeable future, the team is happy to confirm.
In order to continue as the Devils’ head coach after his current contract expires at the end of the 2024–25 season, Pete signed a three-year agreement earlier this week.
Managing Director Todd Kelman said, “In Pete’s first 18 months with the club, Neil Francis, the owners, and I have all been pleased with the job he has been doing.”
“We have faith in Pete and the work he is doing in Cardiff. Our goal was to restore stability and a core group of outstanding players under the direction of outstanding coaches, starting with Pete.
We had a different head coach for three consecutive years, which makes it challenging to forge a sense of identity as a team.
The players are aware that Pete is in charge and that he is comfortable here. The coach may concentrate on a long-term strategy instead of worrying about his own job every season when he is at ease.
