Billy Walker has made it possible to invest money in the Ibrox club.

Billy Walker, a Whisky veteran, has made it possible for Rangers supporters to invest, but UEFA appears to be limiting the amount of money they can spend on the team.

Before acquiring BenRiach Distillery in Speyside in 2002 and selling it to Jack Daniels’ owners Brown-Forman for £285 million in 2016, the GlenAllachie Master Distiller established a reputation working with well-known brands including Burn Stewart, Inver House, and Ballantine’s. Additionally, Walker witnessed GlenAllachie break the £20 million turnover milestone last year. Rangers supporters are hopeful that a sizable amount will be invested in the team as they attempt to rebuild and catch up to Celtic.

Ibrox legend Graeme Souness has already said how much he believes to be spent in order to unseat the Hoops, stating that the Gers must spend up to £50 million on four high-caliber recruits in order to catch up to Celtic earlier this year. Following Rangers’ 3-0 thumping at the hands of Brendan Rodgers’ team, the 71-year-old maintained: “Rangers and Celtic are currently separated, but it’s not insurmountable. Rangers don’t currently have the funds, but three or four high-caliber additions may make the difference. It would be a tie between the two of them if they spent £50 million.

Even though a huge £50 million fund may be liberated for Philippe Clement, Walker said he does not see himself as a prospective “primary investor” in Govan. However, UEFA regulations would restrict any market movement. The governing body of European football limits spending on football operations at 70% of the club’s yearly revenue, notwithstanding Souness’ suggestion that money should be thrown at the Ibrox problems.

In an effort to cut club extravagance in half, the regulations were adopted in June 2023. Specifically, the amount spent on “player and coach wages, transfers, and agent fees” must go below the level. It looks like it will take patience until the impact is translated to the pitch if an arrangement can be reached with whisky tycoon Walker.
