The tragic news that the head coach of the New York Giants died in a vehicle accident was received.

Eugene F. “Buddy” Teevens, the longtime head coach of Dartmouth football, passed away on Tuesday due to injuries he sustained in a bike accident in March, the school confirmed.

He was sixty-six.

Teevens leaves behind his wife Kirsten, son Buddy Jr., daughter Lindsay, and four grandchildren.

The Teevens family issued a statement through Dartmouth stating, “Our family is heartbroken to inform you that our beloved ‘coach’ has peacefully passed away surrounded by family.” “Knowing how much he was loved and admired when he went away gives us confidence and peace.

Regretfully, even he was unable to recover from the injuries he endured.

Teevens was hit by a pickup truck in St. Augustine, Florida, in March as he and Kirsten were bicycling.

In March, his right leg had to be amputated due to spinal cord injury.

Three different states provided him with medical care for his wounds, according to the Boston Globe.

Athletic director Mike Harrity and president Sian Leah Beilock of Dartmouth released a statement stating, “This is tragic news for Dartmouth and the entire football world.” “Buddy was not only a beloved coach and an inventive, inspirational leader who helped shape the lives of generations of students, but he was also inextricably linked with Dartmouth football.”

Teevens participated in both the men’s hockey team and the quarterback position at Dartmouth from 1975 to 1978 before beginning his illustrious and lengthy coaching career.

He began his career at Depauw University (1979–1980) coaching running backs. From 1981–1984, he worked as the offensive coordinator at Boston University.
