Dan Plumley has disclosed that Everton’s late confirmation statement to Companies House is not reason for immediate concern.
The Blues are more than two months late in submitting the paperwork to Companies House, which had an initial deadline of August 31.
While there are various plausible explanations for the delay, Plumley confirmed Everton is not facing any immediate legal action and suggested it could be a positive sign that the Friedkin Group merger is moving forward.
“An late confirmation statement isn’t inherently problematic. Plumley exclusively informed Goodison News that there are no financial consequences for failing to meet a confirmation statement date.
“So, the fact that it is overdue does not tell us much. Being late isn’t a problem right now. Companies House can take legal action against Directors who do not file at all.
“Dissolving a firm would be a last resort with a long lead time. This could possibly be related to the takeover, as the confirmation statement provides an update on the company’s status and principal directors, etc.
Everton need to accelerate takeover process to ease concerns
Dan Friedkin is apparently dissatisfied with the lengthy takeover process, and properly so; since the AS Roma owner beat John Textor to become Everton’s prospective owner, there has been little action.
However, this is not a straightforward process and will take time, but the longer the Blues wait to submit the aforementioned document to Companies House, the more probable legal action will become a serious worry.
The potential remains that the delay is directly related to the takeover, and TFG is close to completing the acquisition of the club from Farhad Moshiri, but for the time being, this is only gossip.
Everton has had their fair share of financial troubles under Moshiri, and adding more complications while the takeover is underway will undoubtedly prolong the process.
Regardless, the matter is dead in the water as it stands. Friedkin, on the other hand, is refusing to rest on his laurels and is already making plans to hit the ground running on Merseyside once his long-awaited reign begins.
