According to reports this week, Newcastle United has joined the running to sign Bazoumana Toure, a highly regarded forward.
Ivorian, 18, scored two goals and assisted on another in a recent match for Hammarby, a top-tier Swedish team presently ranked second in the Allsvenskan, according to TBR Football, which also disclosed that the club has scouts keeping an eye on him.
With his most recent double, he now has nine goals and four assists for the season—an outstanding total in his first full season of senior football and 21 league games.
Aston Villa, Tottenham Hotspur, West Ham, Crystal Palace, Brighton, and Wolves are among the Premier League teams following the striker, along with Sheffield United, Leeds, and Celtic. It is estimated that up to a dozen British clubs attended Hammarby’s most recent game, a 3-0 victory over Sirius.
It’s interesting to note that Toure plays left-sided winger, a position Newcastle already has Anthony Gordon and Harvey Barnes. The signing of Georgian prospect Vakhtang Salia earlier this week, however, is a strong indication that Sporting Director Paul Mitchell is searching the world for up-and-coming adolescent talents and future stars.
“I think he can play at the highest level possible,” stated Toure’s manager Kim Hellberg following his recent brace. Why he shouldn’t be given the opportunity to get there is beyond me. Numerous players have had the chance to reach that point but have chosen not to do so.
“He learns and picks things up in a way that is unique.” On his head, he now scored two goals. and we have spent a lot of time working on how he should position himself and go into the box to create benefits related to his lack of skill.
When asked if Toure would fit in the Premier League, the Hammarby manager responded, “I would almost be surprised if it didn’t.”
