Broderick Wright, Ex-NRL Forward, Admits Guilt in Drink-Driving Case
Broderick Wright, a former player for the Cronulla Sharks and Parramatta Eels, has pleaded guilty to a drink-driving charge at Parramatta Local Court. Wright, who retired from professional rugby league over a decade ago, played 40 first-grade matches for both clubs from 2008 to 2011 before concluding his career with Pia XIII in France’s Elite Two Championship.
The Daily Telegraph reports that Wright was fined $800 and given a three-month driving ban after his guilty plea. The incident occurred in Harris Park on September 11, where he registered a blood alcohol level of 0.134—more than two and a half times the legal limit.
“I am in the wrong. I have been drinking a lot,” Wright stated, according to The Daily Telegraph.
Since leaving rugby league, Wright has become a successful real estate agent in Western Sydney, selling 80 properties worth around $65 million in the 2020-21 financial year and ranking in the top three percent of Ray White’s agents nationwide.
