A man from Weston-super-Mare has received recognition for saving a life while socializing with friends in the town last year. Mark Bradshaw, an electronic performance support developer for Avon and Somerset Police, was awarded a Chief Constable Commendation for his extraordinary efforts.

In August 2023, while enjoying a night out, Mark was approached to assist a victim of a knife attack. Lacking a first aid kit or professional help, he quickly improvised and administered crucial treatment. An ambulance paramedic, arriving 20 minutes later, praised Mark’s swift actions, stating, “I believe it was Mark’s intervention that saved the man’s life.”

Additionally, an officer from Weston received recognition. Designated Investigating Officer Lucinda Darby was acknowledged for her work on a complex case involving a major organized crime network that targeted a Class A drugs warehouse in Weston-super-Mare. His Honour Judge Patrick praised her exemplary investigation during the sentencing hearing, noting, “This case showcased impressive police work across two force areas, involving meticulous analysis and scientific evidence to identify and convict the offenders.”
