Everton’s potential new owners, Friedkin Group, are already weighing up Sean Dyche replacements according to reports
The Friedkin Group (TFG) is reportedly already considering candidates to succeed incumbent manager Sean Dyche in the dugout, but they have not yet finalized a deal to acquire Farhad Moshiri’s majority share in Everton.
The climate around the club has deteriorated a little in recent weeks, which may surprise some observers given Dyche’s impressive work keeping the Toffees afloat despite point deductions last season and propelling them into a current 15th place this year. According to this most recent story, if TFG does get their feet under the table, the 53-year-old might be watching over his shoulder.
Potential Everton owners draw up four-man manager shortlist
TEAMtalk claims that TFG has made Sergio Conceicao, the manager of Porto, their top target to take over if they take over the team. As with other Premier League openings right now, former Chelsea and Brighton manager Graham Potter is also on their list. Edin Terzic and another former Blues manager, Maurizio Sarri, are mentioned as possible candidates.
Despite being jeered off the field by supporters, the current Everton management confirmed their belief in Dyche during the Toffees’ recent scoreless draw against a 10-man Brentford. Their goalless streak now stands at three games, with Beto’s equalizer against Fulham in stoppage time serving as the final one.
A devastating 1-0 loss to Premier League struggling Southampton, who had lost all season, is also included in that run. When Premier League play resumes this weekend, the Merseyside team may face even more difficult circumstances when they travel to Old Trafford to take on a revitalized Manchester United under new manager Ruben Amorim.
In FourFourTwo’s opinion, the job Dyche has done at Everton gets slightly disrespected at times; they added some interesting talent in the summer, and the likes of Dwight McNeil have really kicked on, but this isn’t a squad to send the Toffees hurtling up the league.
That’s no better demonstrated than by seeing a 39-year-old Ashley Young coming in to cover for a 36-year-old Seamus Coleman at full-back — few coaches are going to be able to come in and combat scenarios like that with the intensity of the Premier League.
Maybe a refresh is needed at some point, but issues at Everton seem to run deeper than Dyche. The grass isn’t always greener on the other side
