The Australian manager already knows the goalie he wants, and Ange Postecoglou has stated that he is eager to sign a new one in January.
After Fraser Forster made two mistakes against Manchester United, Spurs are eager to replace him in January. Guglielmo Vicario is now out due to an ankle injury, and the 34-year-old is filling in for him.
Although Forster has shown himself to be a capable goalie, Postecoglou is eager to acquire a goalie who can play out from the back. Vicario is sidelined till February, so he is currently stuck with Forster as his number one.
Tottenham want to sign James Trafford to replace Fraser Forster
The Mirror claims that Tottenham is thinking about making a deal for James Trafford, the goalkeeper for Burnley. Ange Postecoglou’s intention to replace Fraser Forster as goalkeeper in January has been approved by the North London club.
Spurs are considering homegrown EFL players as a target, and Trafford has emerged as one of them. Other names on their list are Pierce Charles of Sheffield Wednesday and Anthony Patterson of Sunderland.
Due to Burnley’s desire to retain the goalie, the 22-year-old is anticipated to cost roughly £20 million. When Newcastle attempted to sign Trafford last summer, the Clarets proved difficult to work with, and same situation is anticipated to recur next month.
Would James Trafford be an ideal Fraser Forster replacement?
Postecoglou is eager to add Trafford to his team since the analytics seems to indicate that he is more effective in possession than Forster. The former Southampton player failed to play out from the back and lost Tottenham two goals against United.
It is evident that this is a major flaw in Forster’s game, and the Lilywhites might be better off adding a goalkeeper like Trafford.

“I think we should have waited for him [Zirkzee] to clear the box before we start playing because then he presses from inside the box,” Postecoglou said after the game, acknowledging that his squad needed to better grasp when it was appropriate to play out from the back against United.
“When that occurs, I believe that returning to Frase a few times was probably not the best course of action, but we could have handled that situation a little bit better, just some calmness.”
