Green Bay Packers: Jordan Love Snubbed From The 2024 Pro Bowl Despite Better Numbers Than Matthew Stafford

The Green Bay Packers do not have a Pro Bowl participant for the first time since 2005. Only one player from the Packers, Keisean Nixon, was named among the top ten vote-getters at his position (kick returner) when the 2024 Pro Bowl rosters were revealed. Given that five of Green Bay’s stars were named alternates, this might vary in the upcoming weeks. Given that Pro Bowl players will inevitably withdraw, it’s possible that one or more Packers players will be named in the end.

This does not change the fact, though, that there may have been a few Green Bay players snubbed from the games. Nixon, for example, has more kick return yards than Rashid Shaheed (the NFC’s Pro Bowl kick returner) has kick return yards and punt return yards combined. Elgton Jenkins has not allowed a sack all year, yet is not on the roster. Rashan Gary is putting up absurd numbers despite not playing many snaps until midseason.

The benefit each of these players have, though, is that they are among the five Packers alternates. Depending on who drops out, they could see themselves added to the Pro Bowl roster.

One name that is missing from both the Pro Bowl roster and list of alternates is that of first-year starting quarterback Jordan Love. While his absence may not be entirely a surprise, it is a shame because he is having a better season than Los Angeles Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford, who was one of three quarterbacks named to the Pro Bowl in the NFC. The others were Dak Prescott and Brock Purdy.

Fan voting is one of the main variables that determines Pro Bowl lineups, so Stafford’s selection makes sense in that regard. One of the biggest fan bases in the nation is found in Los Angeles. Still, Love has outperformed Stafford in the most of passing stats this season, so that does not change.

As can be observed above, Stafford leads Love in only one significant statistic: throwing yards. Love has been the superior quarterback this season aside from that.

Besides, the Rams haven’t exactly performed any better than the Packers this year. Love and the Packers can move ahead of Los Angeles in the standings if they defeat the Chicago Bears on Sunday and the Rams fall to the San Francisco 49ers, despite the fact that the two clubs are now ranked sixth and seventh in the NFC.

Love’s Pro Bowl standing, or lack there of, is undoubtedly the result of the poor stretch of play he and the offense had in October. However, those games have not kept him from having better numbers than Stafford, nor have they shaken his confidence.

Aside from season-long statistics, Love has also proven to be among the NFL’s best quarterbacks since November in multiple ways, including this interesting stat from the Packers’ dope sheet:
