According to police spokesperson Joshua Lovell, “Frisco Police responded to a welfare concern at an apartment believed to be leased by Marion Barber.” “An unattended death at the location is being investigated by the Collin County Medical Examiner’s Office and the Francisco Police.” Barber had 38 years old. Marion was a football player from the old school, a hard-nosed competitor who ran with every down as his goal. He loved his teammates and coaches, and he was passionate about the game. Our thoughts and prayers are with Marion’s family and friends during this trying time. Between 2005 and 2011, Barber played in the NFL for seven years, spending six of those years with the Cowboys. After retiring in 2012, Barber has twice been admitted to the hospital for mental health assessments, according to a source.

Almost a year ago, Dez Bryant, a former wide receiver for the Cowboys, tweeted that he knew Marion Barber was down and out, to the point where he couldn’t even enjoy watching old highlights of him: “As I watch this video and me knowing exactly how Marion barber life is going right now today is why I built @personalcorner….
