135 million views and counting: The internet-shattering junior football player
With more than 135 million views globally, a video of a junior Parramatta football player scoring a breakaway try has gone viral online.
World attention has been drawn to Viliotu Masila’s devastating length-of-the-field try during a Merrylands Rams under-18s game. In the video, Masila takes the first hit-up of the fight and quickly outpaces ten opponents in an impressive run to the line.
On the Parramatta Eels’ official TikTok page last year, his 100-meter trek was first viewed seven million times, reaching accounts in the USA, UK, France, and other countries.
In addition, it was reposted by accounts on YouTube, Instagram, and X (previously Twitter), pushing its total audience above 135 million. Masila received two million likes and almost 100 million views on YouTube alone when Highlight Reel reposted it.
Dylan Brown, a star from Parramatta, was shocked to see the video.
Brown remarked, “That is amazing, that is very cool,” drawing comparisons between Masila’s run and former South Sydney lower-grade forward Jordan Mailata’s before Mailata broke through in the NFL.
“He appears to be very difficult to manage; hopefully, he has a bright future.”
Masila, who is eighteen now, is handling all of the attention with ease.
Masila stated, “I wasn’t really expecting my try to get posted,” during the Parramatta Junior League’s 2023 awards night after collecting the try-of-the-year trophy.

After the Blues’ comeback, New Rabbitoh Wighton leaves the door ajar.
Seeing my attempt receive so many views on TikTok and other platforms was kind of weird. All my teammates could do was joke around. It’s amazing to see something like that, particularly now that Parra is producing films for younger audiences. When asked what the response he got from his classmates after they saw the video, he replied, “It was just a typical day.” Obviously, I was approached by people. It makes me feel quite bashful.
