By the time the 2024 season rolls around, the Los Angeles Chargers are probably going to be a very different squad. The squad will have a new general manager and head coach in addition to the free agents and draft picks they sign over the offseason.

To the great satisfaction of Bolts supporters everywhere, Tom Telesco and Brandon Staley were both relieved of their responsibilities. The Chargers will probably have to wait until the end of the season to interview prospects who are starting the postseason. There are still plenty of options to sift through.

What’s even more intriguing is the person the team intends to name general manager. As of right now, Jojo Wooden serves as interim general manager, so we assume he will have the opportunity to interview at some point.

Nevertheless, the Chargers’ draft capital will require some magic from the general manager. The squad should be able to select an impact player with their current pick.

Their first-round pick is now ranked #5, and they currently have seven picks in the draft. The Chargers have a wide range of options, but Bleacher Report identified five potential impact players at #5:

We highly doubt that Harrison will be there at #5, but the Bolts could certainly use their draft capital and cunning to secure a much-needed wide receiver. Brock Bowers would also be a solid pick, as the Chargers TE room has either underperformed or just dealt with too many injuries. The most amazing scenario would be that Marvin Harrison Jr. would fall to the Chargers at #5, assuming that is where they stay with three games left in the season.

Justin Herbert needs to get back to his gunslinging ways, and the Chargers need a lift at wide out.
