Each of the eight groups’ top two teams advances, with third place heading to the Europa League.

The draw for the round of 16 will be in Nyon, Switzerland on December 18 at 11:00 GMT.

After four losses from their six group games, Manchester United came in last in Group A.

It was the sixth time the Red Devils had failed to advance to the Champions League knockout stages and the first time they had placed last in their group since the 2005–06 season.

With two games remaining, Bayern Munich emerged victorious from the group, and Copenhagen made it to the round of 16 for the first time since 2010–11.

Galatasaray will advance to the Europa League play-off round via elimination.
