report;Packers ‘Need’ to Get a $9 Million, 1,000-Yd Wide Receiver to Support QB LoveTee Higgins 2024 free agency

With the youngest offense in the NFL, the Green Bay Packers are well-positioned to pursue a seasoned veteran playmaker in the upcoming offseason.

On Wednesday, December 20, Joe Tansey of Bleacher Report said that in order to make the most of Jordan Love, the team’s developing quarterback, Green Bay “must target” Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Tee Higgins in free agency.

Throughout his NFL career, Higgins has been Cincinnati’s No. 2 behind Ja’Marr Chase, but it doesn’t seem probable that the Bengals can afford to provide him a big contract. .. With Chase sidelined due to injury on Saturday and in the upcoming weeks, Higgins’ performance may cede his title as the best pass-catcher available to free agents.

While there are a few good young wide receivers for the Packers, none of them have yet to emerge as stars. .. Love would have a strong team to work with in Higgins, Christian Watson, Romeo Doubs, and Jayden Reed, which would enable him to improve as an NFL quarterback.

Under the right circumstances, Tee Higgins has genuine No. 1 wide receiver potential.

Although Higgins has struggled with injuries in 2023, he has been quite dependable over his four years in the NFL, missing just four games in his first three seasons. Higgins has missed four games this season due to injuries, but during the Bengals’ current three-game winning streak, he has been healthy and vital. Backup quarterback Jake Browning is starting in his place.

Based on conventional counting statistics, Higgins has had a poor season because of Cincinnati’s quarterbacking woes and his own injuries. In just 10 games played, he has 497 yards and 4 touchdowns on just 36 receptions, according to Pro Football Reference.

Nonetheless, the wide receiver recorded 908 yards in his debut season and exceeded 1,000 yards in receptions in each of the preceding two seasons. In 56 career games, Higgins has hauled in 23 touchdowns. On Saturday, the team will play the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 16.

Higgins’ numbers have been muted by playing behind Chase, but they are still noteworthy considering that he has effectively spent his entire career as a second choice. Playing next to a game-changing pass-catcher like Watson might open Higgins’s eyes and help him win his first Pro Bowl in the NFL the following season.
