Xavi Simons is reportedly drawing interest from major football teams, including Bayer Leverkusen, Chelsea, Manchester United, RB Leipzig, and Newcastle United, according to a revelation by journalist Roger Torello in Mundo Deportivo.
Remarkably, though, the player’s heart seems set on going back to Barça.
It’s no secret, though, that Simons wants to play for the Blaugrana as much as Barcelona does.
Despite the fact that Paris Saint-Germain has indicated that Luis Enrique is considering him for the 2024–25 campaign, there are rumors that the club may allow him to go on loan for an additional season if he is not interested in staying in Paris.
Barça are rumored to think Simons is a perfect fit. He is versatile, has the physicality, understands the team inside and out, and his loan might bail the club out of its financial bind.
It would seem possible to bring him in temporarily without upsetting anyone’s financial fair play sensibilities.
However, Simons’ loan agreement is not just being pursued by Barcelona. Simons has drawn a lot of attention following an outstanding season at RB Leipzig, where he recorded 10 goals and 15 assists in 43 games.
In addition to Bayern Munich and Barcelona’s current interest, five more teams are keen to sign him for the upcoming season on loan.
The previously stated article claims that Bayer Leverkusen, together with three Premier League teams—Manchester United, Chelsea, and Newcastle—are also in the hunt for him.
Nevertheless, Simons is doing everything in his power to realize his Barça ambition. Barcelona has been his ideal city ever since he stepped foot in La Masia when he was just 12 years old.
He is excited to reunite with friends like Gavi, Alejandro Balde, and Fermin Lopez on the current squad and assist in putting Barça back where they belong.
