The phenom Florian Wirtz of Bayer Leverkusen is prepared to play for Real Madrid, according to Germany legend Michael Ballack, who made this assertion in an interview with Sport BILD (via AS).
Real Madrid has been keeping a close eye on Wirtz for some time now since the German phenomenon is thought to be a long-term replacement for Toni Kroos, who announced his retirement yesterday.
Wirtz is expected to join Leverkusen in the summer of 2025, and Ballack thinks the Bundesliga champion is prepared for the big switch to the Santiago Bernabeu.
Ballack declared, “Wirtz is ready for Real Madrid.”
“Wirtz is a talented football player who belongs on Real Madrid.” Jude Bellingham, who left BVB, is another example of this: you get better when you play with great players,” he continued.
Through the summer of 2027, Wirtz and Bayer Leverkusen are bound by a contract. As of right now, the reigning German champions have no plans to offload their valuable asset this season.
But it seems that everyone is aware that the German international will be moving by 2025.
Real Madrid is expected to win the contest if it comes down to that next year, although other elite teams like Manchester City and Bayern Munich are rumored to be interested as well.
Still, should Real Madrid choose to go ahead and sign Wirtz next year, it could end up costing them more than €100 million.
