Sporting director of Lazio Angelo Fabiani has said that if Aston Villa is interested in signing Matteo Guendouzi for this season, they will consider bids.
The Lazio player made his thoughts public today in response to a number of rumors involving current squad members, according to Corriere dello Sport.
Aston Villa was reportedly considering a deal for Guendouzi, whom manager Unai Emery brought through at Arsenal and is familiar with. This information surfaced earlier this week.
It is thought that he was driving the Frenchman’s acquisition, pressuring the team to meet Lazio’s €30 million asking price for the midfield player.
According to the same report, the 25-year-old expressed his desire to rejoin Emery, who he has acknowledged was a major factor in his decision to join Arsenal earlier in his career, and that he had requested to leave the Italian team this summer.
All indications seem to point to a transfer attempt as Aston Villa bolsters its roster in anticipation of the Champions League campaign that follows.
Though he is adamant, Fabiani has softened his stance somewhat and said that they will consider proposals from Villa or anyone else.
“Guendouzi is still a Lazio player,” he reportedly told Lazio Style Channel, according to Corriere.
Tudor was fully aware that Guendouzi would stay when we signed him. We were left with the option of selecting a new manager or hiring a coach after Sarri said us farewell.
“It is completely untrue, but I feel like there is a big exodus right now. In the event that offers come in, we will consider them. He offered his consent since he was fully aware of the players when he arrived. For the fans, it was the least we could have done.
