According to transfer guru Fabrizio Romano, Aston Villa is set to finalise the signing of Ross Barkley, a great player from Luton Town.

The 30-year-old appears almost certain to make a comeback to Villa Park, where he might sign as the team’s first summer addition.

Barkley has been heavily connected to a move to the Villains, and further information regarding his intended move has recently surfaced.

In order to get his services, Villa will pay a £5 million transfer fee. A number of obstacles must be cleared, including Barkley’s signature and a medical. In time for preseason, the agreement is anticipated to be finalised at the beginning of the next month.

“EXCL: Aston Villa have reached a verbal agreement with Luton Town to sign Ross Barkley,” Romano wrote in a post that was published on X at midday.

“The player’s formal signing, medical exams, and the remaining components are required; the player’s consent is anticipated by the start of July. “Here we go, soon,” accompanied by an emoji of an egg timer.

The news is disappointing because last week, Football Insider revealed that Everton was preparing to sabotage a Barkley move.

He played more than 170 times for the Toffees and was a beloved player who started his career at Goodison Park. In 2018, he brought in £15 million for the Merseyside club.

However, Everton is now cautiously evaluating their next course of action after 777 Partners’ proposed merger collapsed due to a missed deadline. With the club’s entire future on the line, the organisation is currently evaluating their next course of action, and transfers might not be their first priority.

Barkley played at Aston Villa on loan for the 2020–21 season, when he contributed three goals and an assist to the team’s 11th-place finish. After rejoining his original club Chelsea, he played a supporting role at Stamford Bridge for a season before going on loan to Nice, where he helped the team win the Europa League.

Barkley joined Luton Town as a free agent in the previous summer and went on to play a crucial role for the Hatters in their valiant fight against relegation. Despite recording five goals and four assists in 32 games, he was unable to stop Luton from going down.
