Newcastle United is in ‘advanced talks’ to gain a new training equipment sponsor, potentially increasing commercial profits (Mark Douglas, the i).

He says that the upcoming deal is expected to be worth a’seven-figure’ price and will be revealed before the start of the 2024/25 season – another welcome boost following a £30 million-per-season pact with Adidas and a £30 million payment for last season’s Champions League participation.

Following the unveiling of our new Adidas home jersey on Friday, fans flocked to the club shop and online store to purchase the shirt, which was marketed by Alan Shearer, Eddie Howe, and other Newcastle stars in various promotional materials.

The addition of a training kit sponsor is a positive step towards meeting the Premier League’s profitability and sustainability requirements (PSR). Naming rights for the club’s Benton training base are also planned for this year.

With the club experiencing’record first day sales’ during Friday’s kit launch, our position has been strengthened in negotiations for a new kit sponsor, with any investors witnessing how popular Adidas’ new gear has been among Newcastle fans.

On a slightly more discouraging note, Douglas discloses that our failure to qualify for European competition next season meant we did not activate a slew of bonuses in current sponsorship arrangements, which resulted in us missing out on prospective new signings.
