Jorge Silva, the Portuguese striker’s father, reportedly stated that his son had the choice to sign with Celtic or Rangers.

“At the beginning, Fabio had the opportunity to choose other clubs, even in Scotland,” Jorge Silva said in a Daily Record interview.
“Maybe he had visited Celtic? He may have gone there, indeed.
Numerous individuals advised him to visit that place since their style of play may be more akin to Fabio’s. But he went with Rangers.

People have asked us about Fabio’s religion because he is a Catholic, but he doesn’t always act like one. Still, he confided in me as his parent that all he wanted was to be a Rangers player.

Fans heavily criticized Silva during his tenure at Rangers for his lackluster performances and habit of diving. The forward gave an awful and shameful performance in the 3-3 derby at Ibrox; even his own supporters were starting to turn on him.

His stint came to an end in a controversial departure, during which he made it clear he had no intention of going back to the club. His departure came during Celtic’s spectacular season in which they won the Scottish Cup and the league. I’m sure he wishes he had gone to the east end of Glasgow.

Though to be honest, I don’t see where he fits into the team; it’s a tale of what might have been. He is a special talent, and Celtic has a formidable last third, thus he would not fit in.
