According to reports, Everton is considering a move for a defender who they believe might take Jarrad Branthwaite’s place.

Given the uncertainty surrounding Jarrad Branthwaite’s future, Everton is considering possible center-back acquisitions in advance of the summer.

In order to avoid more penalties from the Premier League, the Toffees could have to start generating some revenue by June 30.

Just this past week, Everton News was informed that the team is hoping to get a record price for Branthwaite this summer.

The 21-year-old has gained a lot of admirers after an outstanding season at Goodison Park, with Manchester United reportedly showing interest.

It remains to be seen if any club meets Everton’s expectations. But if that turns out to be the case, it seems like Sean Dyche’s team is looking at possible replacements.

Everton set to move for Maxime Esteve

Maxime Esteve of Burnley is reportedly being pursued by Everton and West Ham, according to The Sunday Mirror [page 72].

According to reports, Man United is showing interest in Esteve, who the Toffees see as a possible successor for Branthwaite.

If Esteve receives a sizable offer from a Premier League team, Burnley is unlikely to oppose a transfer.

Esteve’s stats for Burnley

Esteve signed a loan agreement to join Turf Moor back in January, with the possibility to extend the stay for a further £10 million.

Under Vincent Kompany, the Frenchman made 16 Premier League appearances as a center back.

Esteve is a left-footed center back who can also cover at left back, much like Branthwaite.

Burnley is likely to make Esteve’s loan move permanent this summer, so the Clarets will be able to hold out for a respectable figure in the event that teams like Everton or West Ham increase their interest.
