Everton is reportedly interested in signing Armando Broja, a striker for Chelsea, and this desire has been characterized as “curious.”

According to Ben Jacobs (9 June), the Toffees are reportedly interested in spending £30 million for the forward, who has failed to find playing time at Stamford Bridge.

Journalist Christ Beesley, however, found the departure strange given Everton’s serious financial problems.

“[Everton supposedly pushing to sign Broja for £30m is] a curious claim given Everton’s PSR situation,” he wrote in an article for the Liverpool Echo on June 9.

Is Everton able to spend at least £30 million on Armando Broja?
Due to their significant debt and other financial problems, Everton has already violated the Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR) of the Premier League. As a result, they will lose eight points in two fines for breaking the rules in 2023–2024.

The Toffees are also in danger of going bankrupt, and Farhad Moshiri still hasn’t sold the team after a drawn-out takeover battle with 777 Partners that ended with the Miami-based company missing their deadline .

Journalist Christ Beesley, however, found the departure strange given that Everton’s exclusivity deal was about to expire.

It’s probable that prospective new owners have made financial commitments, increasing Everton’s negotiating position in the transfer market.
