In the NBA Finals, the Boston Celtics easily defeated the Dallas Mavericks. The Minnesota Timberwolves missed the NBA Finals by one series. More people are optimistic than others about the Wolves’ future.
It will be interesting to see how the Timberwolves manage this offseason. This is a team that faces ownership uncertainty and has a roster that is subject to the luxury tax.
But Anthony Edwards is still with them, and that’s exciting enough on its own. They still have one of the best rosters in the league, and if Tim Connelly does his job correctly, they can get better at positioning themselves.
ESPN sees a return to power for the Minnesota Timberwolves
The Minnesota Timberwolves are ranked fourth in ESPN’s “way too early” power rankings for the upcoming season, slightly ahead of Oklahoma City and behind the Mavericks, Nuggets, and Celtics. This is after they finished as the third-to-last in standings this season and despite appearing to be outmatched against the Mavericks.

Result: Out of the West semifinals

The Mavericks easily defeated the Wolves following their journey to the Western Conference finals, where they had first defeated the defending champion Nuggets in Game 7 and then swept the Phoenix Suns. But throughout the playoffs, Karl-Anthony Towns and Anthony Edwards showed a stronger working relationship, supported by team president Tim Connelly, who extended Towns’ contract by one more year. The ownership dispute between Glen Taylor and Alex Rodriguez, Marc Lore and Michael Bloomberg, is still unresolved.

Can the Minnesota Timberwolves take the next step?
The Minnesota Timberwolves advanced to the top of the Western Conference for a significant portion of the previous campaign. They had to rely on other players to step up and missed Karl-Anthony Towns for a considerable amount of time, yet they were still able to achieve those heights.
Rudy Gobert is probably staying put, and Mike Conley will most likely make a comeback. It’s a mystery how Connelly assembles a team with a full roster that adds a scorer or floor general while still giving Finch the chance to play excellent defense.
Undoubtedly, however, the majority of people believe that the Minnesota Timberwolves will once again rank among the top basketball teams in the upcoming campaign. It is up to them to decide where to go from there.
