According to insiders who spoke to Football Insider, Tottenham withdrew from the competition to sign sensation Samuel Iling-Junior, who was headed to Aston Villa.
On Monday, June 24, Football Insider reported that 20-year-old Juventus star Iling-Junior has consented to join Villa as part of the agreement that will send Douglas Luiz to the Italian powerhouses.
During the 2023–24 season, Tottenham kept a close eye on the young Englishman and had discussions about a possible January transfer.
However, Spurs finally opted to prolong Timo Werner’s loan at the London club, therefore they did not move forward with the transaction.
Werner’s contract with the Lilywhites is set to expire at the end of the 2024–25 season, with Tottenham holding the option to extend it.
Ange Postecoglou and his recruiting staff are currently working on bringing in another elite forward for the summer as part of a revised transfer plan.
Last week (17 June), Football Insider revealed that Ivan Toney’s scoring heroics for Brentford in previous years had made Tottenham huge fans of his.

It is thought that the Bees will have to lower their asking price, which is now between £50 and £60 million.
After Harry Kane left the team for Postecoglou’s squad last season, Richarlison and Heung-min Son alternated as the line leaders.
After making 27 professional appearances for Juventus last season, where he recorded one goal and two assists in six starts, Iling-Junior, 20, has joined Villa.
The former Chelsea youth standout has netted twice for England’s Under-21 team in five games.
Spurs will begin playing in the Europa League in September following their fifth-place result in the 2023–24 season.
