NewcastleWorld has been told Sven Botman is “positive” as he continues his recovery from an ACL injury
Sven Botman, who is eager to play again for Newcastle United, has uploaded video of himself being tested.
After having surgery in March to treat an ACL injury, the Dutchman has not appeared in any games. Eddie Howe played a patchwork backline the remainder of the season after his final appearance in the 3-2 loss against Chelsea.
Botman shockingly disclosed that in the beginning of the previous season, he missed two games due to an ACL tear. The first issue arose in the 1-0 victory against Brentford, but he returned to action and scored at Sheffield United one week later.
Then his knee “blew up,” forcing him to miss three months of action before making a miserable comeback in time for the gloomy holiday run. Botman decided against surgery due to conflicting medical opinions, yet his performances were very different from his reliable ones from the year before.
In the end, the defender had surgery in March and was sidelined until the end of the year, missing up to nine months of play. Botman is eager to return to action and is said to be “positive” despite the extended layoff, according to NewcastleWorld.
The 24-year-old Jamaal Lascelles, the club captain, was lost, and Toon executives had to reconsider their transfer strategy. Defense has risen to the top of the priority list, and Lloyd Kelly has already agreed terms before moving on July 1.
Dan Burn and Fabian Schar are both viable choices who renewed a strong collaboration in the latter half of 2023–2024. Sources close to the Dutchman, together with videos of Botman riding a bike and going through resistance training, imply that he might make a comeback sooner rather than later.
