Garang Kuol will have another chance to impress Eddie Howe before leaving Newcastle United on loan later this summer.
As part of their preseason itinerary, the Magpies are now in Germany, practicing at Adidas’ worldwide headquarters located in Herzogenaurach. All of the healthy non-international players are present, along with a few youth players.
Kuol, who is 19 years old, was one of the players called up, only a few months after he made his debut during the post-season trip to Australia.
After entering the game as a second-half replacement, Kuol scored his penalty, helping Newcastle win the penalty shootout 5–4. His first debut, though, was a forgettable one as the youthful Magpies team fell to the A-League All Stars 8-0.
In January 2023, little than a month after he became the youngest player since Pele in 1958 to appear in the World Cup knockout rounds, Howe’s team signed the teenage winger from Central Coast Mariners, an A-League team.
Kuol played 197 minutes of league action in Scotland. Additionally, he has only started eight of his fifteen league games and scored one goal in the Netherlands, where he last participated in a competitive game in November.
