Before Newcastle United’s first preseason game against Hull City, Alexander Isak sent out a three-word statement. Next week, Eddie Howe’s team will play the Championship team at MKM Stadium, and the 24-year-old striker will be looking to continue where he left off.
Isak posted a photo of himself on Instagram for the first time since July 2 while sporting the Magpies’ new practice attire. With nearly 70,000 likes, the post’s caption says, “Back at work [black heart emoji]!” Only Cole Palmer and Erling Haaland scored more goals in the Premier League last season than Isak. The Sweden international was nursing a groin ailment during the holiday season, but he nevertheless found the target 21 times in thirty times. Chelsea and other elite clubs in Europe expressed interest in him as a result of his outstanding achievements for the Magpies. Isak’s potential signing was reportedly discussed by the Blues last month as Newcastle attempted to generate money before their Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSRs) deadline. Even if football.london understands that Chelsea is not preparing a bid for the Swede this summer, the west Londoners may still value the forward. Higher-ups are’very unlikely’ to make a bid since it’s said they know Newcastle will expect a’staggering amount’ for Isak.
Football.london is aware that he might cost more than the £115 million Chelsea spent on Moises Caicedo in the summer, but at this point, that is not financially possible. Isak has, however, already promised the Tyneside group his future.
