Dan Bardell has warned Everton off signing Wilfried Gnonto from Leeds United.

On July 22, TEAMtalk said that the Toffees are getting closer to acquiring the former international player from Italy, who is “keen” to come to Goodison Park.

Although Sean Dyche’s team has put its estimate at £20 million, Leeds is requesting a cost in the range of £25 million; still, a deal may soon be struck.

Journalist Bardell from talkSPORT and Sky Sports has said that the cost is excessive and is still uncertain about Gnonto.

“Gnonto is a difficult one to quantify,” Bardell stated in an exclusive interview with Goodison News. I don’t think he’s as skilled as he may believe.

“Leeds, having already sold players, will demand a higher price.” He’s an inconsistent player, and I don’t think he’s at the level Everton needs him to be.

“Given the money involved, I’m not sure he’s the player they need right now.”

The Toffees have already welcomed Jack Harrison back to the team on loan this summer, but they still need more alternatives on the wings.

Gnonto may end up being a useful signing for Dyche given that the Italian displayed quality during his last stint in the Premier League.

The 20-year-old might rediscover his best form following an inconsistent season in the Championship last year, as he has lots of opportunity to flourish at Goodison Park.

In his 39 appearances in the second division [FotMob], he scored two goals and eight goals, which isn’t a very good return.
