A fresh rumor surfacing from Italy claims that Newcastle United is getting ready to make a better bid this summer for a “simply brilliant” player.

Newcastle transfer news

The list of players Eddie Howe is said to be joining the Magpies this summer will no doubt thrill the team’s supporters as he strives to enhance his team and make the next Premier League season better.

Newcastle seems to be particularly interested in bolstering their right-wing position; improvements over Miguel Almiron and Jacob Murphy are necessary, particularly in terms of producing better final product. Noni Madueke, a winger for Chelsea, has emerged as the front-runner to go to St James’ Park, with a summer departure from Stamford Bridge looking increasingly likely.

Ferran Torres, an attacker from Manchester City who is no longer with Barcelona and isn’t really thought of as a vital starter—especially since Lamine Yamal has emerged—has also been linked to a move to the Magpies. Crysencio Summerville, a standout for Leeds United, has also been suggested as a target.

Newcastle’s defensive core is thin at the moment, particularly in light of the long-term injury absences of Jamaal Lascelles and Sven Botman. Trevoh Chalobah, the star player for Chelsea, is expected to increase Howe’s choices on defense. Since he can also play right back, he may even be considered an improvement over Kieran Trippier, who is getting older.

Newcastle preparing new offer for “simply brilliant” ace

Newcastle is expected to raise its offer for Milan center-back Malick Thiaw, as the Italian powerhouses are reportedly seeking €40 million (£33.8 million) for his services, according to Gazzetta dello Sport [via Sport Witness].

According to reports, the 22-year-old has “concrete interest” in the Magpies, who are prepared to “raise the stakes” in order to capture him during the current transfer window. Additionally, it’s believed that both teams are “in favor” of a trade.

If a deal materializes, Thiaw, a youthful defender who has already accomplished a great deal in his career—making 54 appearances for Milan and earning three caps for Germany—has the potential to be an incredible addition for Newcastle.

He’s been called “simply brilliant” by football talent scout Jacek Kulig, while Antonio Rudiger has showered admiration on his countryman, remarking during a 2023 friendly against Poland, “He surprised me.” He got out to an excellent start and had a wonderful personality. He was a very, very talented player.”

Even at the age of 22, Thiaw has a ton of career left in him. In Serie A last season, he had a 91.6% pass completion percentage and averaged 2.6 clearances per game. The latter total demonstrates his prowess on the ball and what he can provide to the Toon defense. It also surpasses the total of any Newcastle defender in the Premier League in 2023–2024.

Even if the German might wind up being a steal for the Magpies given his long-term potential, £33.8m isn’t exactly cheap. That is, if they can acquire him for anything less, which is something that the Italian media has hinted at.
