Brendan Rodgers delivered a low key transfer update after watching Celtic hammer Chelsea 4-1.

With Kasper Schmeichel replacing Joe Hart in goal, Celtic began the game with ten outfield players who were on the team when Rodgers arrived in June of last year.

After replacing the injured Daizen Maeda for 35 minutes, Luis Palma appears to be the only one of the seven summer acquisitions from the previous season who will probably play a significant role in the upcoming campaign.

Two months after winning the Scottish Cup at Hampden, Rodgers still has no fresh outfield options, but he hopes that will change as August draws near.

According to the Daily Record, when asked about recent additions, the Irishman said:

I really hope so. You wish to get them in as quickly as you can. We will strengthen the team during the window, and their present group is working really hard on their own.

Prior to the USA tour, when they would have had 12 days and three games to adjust to the demands of a new manager, would have been the best time to make additions.

August’s schedule doesn’t include any midweek games, so Rodgers will have lots of time to practice as supporters watch for indications that the team has grown stronger and progressed throughout the summer.
