Rumours of Newcastle United trying to sign Ferran Torres from Barcelona refuse to go away in the Spanish media.

Eddie Howe is keen to add a fresh winger to Newcastle United’s roster in order to advance his assault, and the Magpies are searching for a player along the lines of Ferran Torres.
Ferran Torres would undoubtedly be a good replacement for Miguel Almiron and Jacob Murphy, who he now needs to be replaced. The Spaniard played for Manchester City in the Premier League and was a member of the Spanish team that just won Euro 2024. Furthermore, at just 24 years old, he still has a lot of improvement ahead of him.

Newcastle were linked with Ferran Torres earlier this summer

Because of Torres’s tremendous potential, there was excitement in the Spanish media when reports surfaced last month of Newcastle making an offer of less than £20 million.

Talk of an offer, meanwhile, was swiftly downplayed. Luke Edwards stated that Torres had not received an offer from Newcastle, acknowledging that there was “no truth” to rumors of one.

The reporter at the Telegraph shot down reports that Torres was coming to Tyneside, although his update was expected.

But the rumors have persisted, and since then, there has been another report in Spain regarding Newcastle’s purported bid for Torres. It was allegedly valued at £25 million this time.

Newcastle ‘bemused’ by Ferran Torres claim

Although there has been much excitement over any bid from Newcastle, the team has downplayed this report as well.

The Athletic believes that allegations that Newcastle officials had made a £25 million bid for Torres left them “bemused.”

The Premier League winger, who Barcelona appears eager to let go of during the summer transfer window, has not had any approaches.

Toon officials are looking elsewhere

Torres is not currently considered a target for Newcastle, despite the Magpies’ need for a player of his caliber.

The Spanish media is the only one to have connected him to Newcastle; English media outlets have downplayed rumors of a move to St James’ Park.

Which winger the Magpies will sign this summer is still up in the air. Nico Gonzalez, who just helped Argentina win the Copa America, has been connected to Newcastle. His asking price might be as low as £25 million.

As an alternative, Nico Williams, Torres’ Euro 2024 colleague, would undoubtedly be a dream signing for Newcastle. He would be a wonderful addition for Eddie Howe’s team after his incredible season for Spain.

Newcastle is aware that Williams will be too costly, too.
