Newcastle United have reportedly tabled a fourth bid for Crystal Palace defender Marc Guehi
In response to Newcastle United’s interest, Crystal Palace assigned Marc Guehi the No. 6 jersey before to the Premier League season.
Toon executives allegedly submitted a fourth bid for the England international earlier today, according to The Daily Mail. Prior offers, the largest of which was reportedly valued at about £60 million, were promptly turned down.
When pressed by the media in the middle of the week, Palace CEO Steve Parish did, however, imply that a deal may be conceivable. Before today’s Premier League match, Eddie Howe maintained his distance from Guehi, stating that Newcastle will not pay more than the odds.#

“During my tenure here, we have done this several times, particularly in the beginning when there was a strong “Newcastle tax” on any transaction where the price would double when we rang up. ‘No, it’s not for us, we’re not going down that route where we believe we’re overpaying for players,’ we would repeat so many times.
“That’s changed slightly because people have seen the dynamic that we’re not going to pay silly fees for players. So I think now it’s returned to normality.” Guehi also promised to “control the controllables” when placed in front of the media – refusing to rubbish the rumours outright. The player is thought to be keen on the move and called St James’ Park his favourite Premier League ground while on England duty at Euro 2024. Despite the ongoing negotiations, Palace have confirmed he is set to keep his No.6 shirt – for now. That number at Newcastle is currently occupied by captain Jamaal Lascelles.
