The chiefs at Hotspur Way have done a fantastic job of bringing in the required talent over the past year or so. One of them is the highly touted Swede maestro Lucas Bregvall. The 18-year-old has been among the whispers around North London since moving to the English top tier from Djurgården, and more recently he has been likened to Barcelona midfielder Frenkie de Jong. Tottenham Hotspur has some exciting young talents at Ange Postecoglou’s disposal. Most of them possess a very high potential as they head into the development stages of their careers.

Tottenham’s Bregvall impresses former Italian defende

Bergvall has enjoyed a good start to life in England after putting in impressive performances in his initial appearances donning the Spurs badge. Lucas was part of the Sweden squad for the ongoing international break, and while he has only played for limited minutes this season, Bregvall has managed to impress former Italian defender Marco Palma.

In an exclusive interview with Tutto Mercato Web, Palma was questioned about the talents that have managed to capture his attention during the international break. The 2006-born midfielder’s skill with the ball and his exceptional technique were praised by the Italian defense further.

Palma stated:

Then there is Tottenham’s 187-cm Swedish center attacking midfielder Lucas Bergvall from 2006.

“For many, the most talented player of 2006 in Europe, he joined Sweden’s first squad at the age of sixteen. Outstanding ball-playing skills, a keen sense of the game, grace on the field, superb technique, and a vast amount of adaptability are all attributes.

Tottenham spent $10 million to purchase him in July 2024, and they integrated him into the first squad almost away.

“He participated in both of Sweden’s games for the senior national team, showcasing incredible skill on the field. More offensive than Frankie De Jong, but similar in style.

Bergvall is a promising addition to Tottenham’s midfield

Barcelona, the dominant team in Spain, nearly defeated the Lilywhites to sign Bergvall. To get the Swedish phenomenon to White Hart Lane, Daniel Levy had to pay €10 million, but he succeeded. The fact that Bergvall has participated in every league game despite not yet earning a start for the Lilywhites indicates Ange believes in his potential.

Bergvall is a little more attacking player than Frenkie, but the two midfielders from the Netherlands do have a comparable ball handling technique and the capacity to burst past defenses with dribbling and passing.

-> Tottenham Hotspur announced their 2024–2025 roster additions, departures from loans, and transfers in.

After receiving his first call-up earlier this year, Bergvall has also been able to lock down a berth in Sweden’s national team in addition to N17.

The supporters of Tottenham would be hoping Bergvall had a fantastic season. What is your prediction for his Premier League goal total this year?
