Under Farhad Moshiri’s leadership, Everton have experienced an extremely turbulent seven years, with an unsettling element that has hardly abated with each year that goes by. In fact, it seems as though a new controversy or setback is always around the corner, as the Iranian is still mired in new disputes even now, despite his desperate attempt to sell.
The sooner this planned acquisition by John Textor can move on, the better, and thankfully we have just been provided a brand-new update from the guy himself.
John Textor reveals Everton takeover plans in interview
In an interview with French media, the American businessman said that he has been rather open about his attempts to buy the team.
But it’s possible that he has never been more honest about his goals and development.
In his most recent statement, he indicated how far he was from selling his Crystal Palace stock before disclosing the specifics of his rumored acquisition of Everton.
“I’ll invest new equity to fund the potential acquisition of Everton,” he disclosed. It’s critical to realize that the contract, as it is now being considered and prepared, is between the buyer and me. not the UK’s Eagle Football Holdings. Not the French Eagle Football Group. John Textor is the purported acquirer of Everton. I am attempting to clarify.
‘And so we’re forming a new holding company called Everton Football Group and I’m the principal buyer of that group. I have invited a couple of other friends with terrific resources that will support that acquisition. It’s contemplated that I’ll be the majority shareholder of that small holding company. ‘Expect it to be highly collaborative with Olympique Lyonaisse and the other clubs of Eagle Football Group but legally very separate.’
John Textor is not afraid to let his feelings known
It’s quite refreshing to see an owner so supremely transparent, to the point where he shares information that most others in his position would have kept silent. For Evertonians, who have been used to Farhad Moshiri‘s misguided attempts at talking to the fans, this could be a welcome change.
After all, seeing their owner appear on talkSPORT talking to Jim White got old and tired really fast, especially when results went downhill. If John Textor can speak to the appropriate outlets, namely the club’s sources with the same level of openness, he will quickly become respected on Merseyside. Having admitted to loving the club and its history many months ago, outlined his intentions to buy and now revealed just how close they are, it has to be admired just how willing he is to keep fans in the loop.
Let’s hope he can deliver on all he has promised whilst still aligning with their sustainable plan.
