Frank Reich was fired as head coach of the Carolina Panthers after the team finished the new season with only one victory in eleven games.
After Reich was named in January, he didn’t really have an impact, and the Tennessee Titans’ 17-10 loss on Saturday kept the NFL’s worst record at that moment.
The Panthers have announced that special teams coordinator Chris Tabor would serve as the team’s temporary head coach. Thomas Brown, the offensive coordinator, will handle play-calling, while senior assistant Jim Caldwell will serve as special consultant to Brown.
“I met with Coach Reich this morning and informed him that he will not be continuing as head coach of the Carolina Panthers,” Panthers owner David Tepper stated in a statement. Frank has my gratitude for his commitment and devotion, and we hope the best for him.
