In the midst of the Portuguese manager’s contract dispute with AS Roma, Newcastle United is reportedly considering replacing miracle worker Eddie Howe with three-time Premier League winner Jose Mourinho.
The AS Roma manager, Jose Mourinho, has unexpectedly surfaced as a contender to succeed Eddie Howe at Newcastle United, according to Spanish publication Fichajes. This is in case the aspirational Saudi owners choose to sever ties with the Englishman in the summer of 2024.

Since Eddie Howe was selected by PIF to guide Newcastle United into a new era, he has garnered a great deal of praise throughout the last few seasons. Back in November of 2021, when Howe took over for Steve Bruce, the Magpies were ranked 19th in the table. They have since made a name for themselves among the Premier League’s upper echelons, advanced to the 2023 EFL Cup final, and earned a spot in the Champions League by defeating Liverpool in the fourth round.

Eddie Howe to Be Replaced by Jose Mourinho?

Having led the Giallorossi to their first-ever European trophy in 2022, the former manager of Chelsea, Manchester United, and Tottenham has been with the Serie A team since the summer of 2021.

In addition to winning the UEFA Europa League Conference, Mourinho has led Roma to sixth place in the Italian league in each of his two seasons in charge; at present, they are in fourth place. It would be shocking if Howe were to be let go, since it is far too soon for the Newcastle management to lose all of the ground the team has gained over the past two seasons.

The decision is certain to cause a stir among his admirers, who view him as a legendary figure and possibly their greatest manager to date.
