Six members of head coach Mike McCarthy’s staff, including former player and defensive line coach Leon Lett, as well as senior assistants Rob Davis and George Edwards, will not have their contracts renewed by the Dallas Cowboys.

“We appreciate these men’s efforts, commitment, and support of the Cowboys. McCarthy stated, “They all represented our group and company in a polished, classy manner, dedicated to improving our team. “These were tough choices to make because of my deep regard for each of them as a coach and a person of integrity, along with the experiences we’ve shared. We wish them all the best, as this is the most difficult aspect of the business.”

Four days following a 19-12 loss to San Francisco that prolonged Dallas’ losing run in the divisional round to seven games—the most since the 1970 merger—the team made the announcement on Thursday.

Running backs coach Skip Peete, quality control analyst Kyle Valero, and offensive line coach and former Miami head coach Joe Philbin are the three assistants whose contracts are up that will not be renewed.

Later on Thursday, McCarthy was supposed to speak to media for the last time this season.

Lett, a defensive lineman and two-time Pro Bowler who was a member of all three Dallas Super Bowl winning teams in the 1990s, recently concluded his 12th season with the organization. Since 2014, Valero has been a member of the Cowboys.
